– penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pelaksanaan mediasi berdasarkan perma no.01 tahun 2016 tentang proses mediasi di pengadilan, menjelaskan kendala yang dihadapi mediator dalam pelaksanaan mediasi dalam penyelesaian perceraian dan untuk menjelaskan upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan keberhasilan mediasi di mahkamah syar’iyah kota lhokseumawe. hasil dari penelitin membuktikan bahwa pelaksanaan mediasi yang dilaksanakan mahkamah syar’iyah kota lhokseumawe melalui tahap pra mediasi, pelaksanaan mediasi dan hasil mediasi. mediator mengalami kendala disebabkan oleh para pihak tidak beritikad baik, kurangnya pemahaman para pihak tentang mediasi, keterbatasan mediator hakim, fasilitas yang kurang memadai dan para pihak terpengaruh oleh ego dan gengsi. upaya dalam meningkatkan keberhasilan mediasi dalam penyelesaian perkara perceraian adalah dengan meningkatkan profesionalisme mediator hakim, mengutamakan hakim mediator yang sudah bersertifikat, mengupayakan edukatif dan informasi mengenai penghargaan kepada mediator apabila berhasil mendamaikan pihak yang berperkara. kata kunci : mediasi, perceraian, upaya

This study goals to explain the implementation of mediation based on PERMA No.1 of 2016 concerning Mediation Procedures in Courts, explain the obstacles faced by mediators in carrying out mediation in divorce settlements and to explain the efforts made to increase the success of mediation at the Syar'iyah Court of Lhokseumawe City. The results of the research prove that the procedures for implementing mediation carried out by the Lhokseumawe Syar'iyah Court go through the pre-mediation stages, the implementation of mediation and the results of mediation. The mediator experiences problems caused by the parties not having good intentions, the parties' lack of understanding about mediation, the limitations of the judge mediator, inadequate facilities and the parties affected by ego and prestige. Efforts to increase the success of mediation in the settlement of divorce cases are to increase the professionalism of judge mediators, prioritizing certified mediator judges, seeking education and information about mediation, mediators trying to provide positive advice and messages to the parties and giving awards to mediators if they succeed in reconciling the conflicting parties litigation.
