Abstrak tanaman asam jawa (tamarindus indica linn) merupakan jenis tanaman yang banyak tumbuh di negara tropis termasuk di indonesia. daun asam jawa (tamarindus indica) telah terbukti memiliki beberapa manfaat salah satunya ialah sebagai antibakteri karena mengandung senyawa kimia seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin, dan saponin. metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu kirby bauer disk diffusion yang diawali dengan peremajaan stok bakteri pada media nutrient agar (na), kemudian dire-identifikasi kembali dengan menggunakan media mannitol salt agar (msa) dan pewarnaan gram. tujuan penelitian ini untuk melihat adanya aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun asam jawa (t. indica) terhadap pertumbuhan staphylococcus aureus dengan menggunakan beberapa variasi konsentrasi yaitu 10%, 20%, 30% dan 40% dengan kontrol negatif aquades dan kontorol positif penisilin. data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan one way anova dengan rancangan acak lengkap (ral) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji duncan. hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun asam jawa (t. indica) dapat menghambat pertumbuhan s. aureus dengan rata-rata diameter zona hambat yang terbentuk pada masing-masing konsentrasi 10%, 20%, 30%, dan 40% berturut-turut sebesar 10,65 mm ± 1,40, 13,56 mm ± 1,55, 13,84 mm ± 1,46, dan 23,69 mm ± 2,18. hasil analisis statistik semua perlakuan dan kontrol menunjukkan pengaruh nyata (p



Abstract

ABSTRACT Tamarind (Tamarindus indica Linn) is one of the plants widely cultivated in tropical countries, including Indonesia. Tamarind leaves (Tamarindus indica) have been proven to have several benefits, one of which is as an antibacterial due to the presence of chemical compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and saponins. The method used in this research is Kirby Bauer disk diffusion, which begins with the rejuvenation of bacterial stocks on Nutrient Agar (NA) media. Re-identification was done using Muller Hinton Agar (MHA) media and Gram staining. This study aims to observe the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of tamarind leaves (T. indica) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. The ethanol is extract of tamarind leaves (T. indica) was used in antibacterial testing with concentration variations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, with distilled water as negative control and penicillin antibiotic as positive control. The research data were analyzed using One-way ANOVA with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and followed by Duncan's test. The results showed that the ethanol extract of tamarind leaves (T. indica) could inhibit the growth of S. aureus with the average diameter of inhibition zones formed at concentration 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40% were 10.65 mm ± 1.40, 13.56 mm ± 1.55, 13.84 mm ± 1.46, and 23.69 mm ± 2.18 respectively. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of tamarind leaves (T. indica) can inhibit the growth of S. aureus at a concentrations of 40% in the very strong category.
