Sampah plastik di perairan lambat laun akan terdegradasi menjadi partikel yang lebih
kecil yang disebut mikroplastik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis jenis
sedimen, kelimpahan, dan jenis polimer mikroplastik yang terdapat pada sedimen
pasir di pantai Nipah dan Pantai Alue Riyeung, Pulo Aceh, Aceh Besar.
Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan April 2022, di pantai Nipah dan pantai
Alue Riyeung Pulo Aceh, Aceh Besar. Pengambilan sampel sedimen dilakukan
dengan dua metode yaitu coring dan sekop. Penyaringan sampel sedimen dilakukan
di Laboratorium Perencanaan Tambang di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Syiah Kuala,
proses analisis dilakukan di Laboratorium Kimia Laut, Fakultas Kelautan dan
Perikanan Universitas Syiah Kuala, dan proses FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red)
dilakukan di Laboratorium Multifungsi, Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis sedimen kedua pantai tergolong dalam jenis
pasir biasa (Sand). Terdapat tiga jenis mikroplastik yang ditemukan yaitu
fragment,film, dan fiber. Kelimpahan mikroplastik tertinggi terdapat pada saringan
yang berukuran 0,063mm di pantai Nipah dengan jumlah 2651 Partikel/Kg
sedangkan yang terrendah terdapat pada saringan yang berukuran 0,125mm dengan
jumlah 8 Partikel/Kg di Alue Riyeung. Pada analisis jenis polimer diketahui bahwa
mikroplastik jenis fragmen berkemungkinan memiliki polimer berjenis PETE
(Polietilen Tereftalat), mikroplastik jenis film berkemungkinan memiliki polimer
jenis PS (Polystyrene) dan mikroplastik jenis Fiber berkemungkinan memiliki
polimer berjenis LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene).

Plastic waste in waters will gradually degrade into smaller particles called microplastics. This research was conducted to analyze the type of sediment, abundance, and type of microplastic polymer found in sand sediments on Nipah Beach and Alue Riyeung Beach, Pulo Aceh, Aceh Besar. Sampling was carried out in April 2022, at Nipah beach and Alue Riyeung Pulo Aceh beach, Aceh Besar. Sediment sampling was carried out by two methods, namely coring and shoveling. Sediment sample screening was carried out at the Mine Planning Laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering, Syiah Kuala University, the analysis process was carried out at the Marine Chemistry Laboratory, Marine and Fisheries Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, and the FTIR process was carried out at the Multifunction Laboratory, Ar-Raniry State Islamic University. The results showed that the types of sediment on both beaches belonged to the type of ordinary sand (Sand). There are three types of microplastics found, namely fragments, films, and fibers. The highest abundance of microplastics was found in a 0.063mm filter at Nipah Beach with an amount of 2651 Particles/Kg while the lowest was found in a 0.125mm filter with an amount of 8 Particles/Kg in Alue Riyeung. In the analysis of polymer types, it is known that fragment type microplastics are likely to have PETE (Polyethylene Terephthalate) polymers, film type microplastics are likely to have PS (Polystyrene) polymer types and Fiber microplastics are likely to have LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) polymers.
