Denim merupakan salah satu kain yang memiliki karakteristik sangat kuat dan kokoh, penguraiannya dalam lingkungan membutuhkan waktu hingga bertahun-tahun. Penggunaan bahan limbah denim dengan adanya pengaplikasian teknik destruktif dalam pembuatan produk fesyen merupakan salah satu cara alternatif yang dapat dikembangkan untuk mengurangi permasalahan dari bahan limbah denim. Tujuan dari penelitian yaitu untuk mendesain dan membuat produk tas menggunakan limbah bahan denim dengan pengaplikasian teknik destruktif untuk dapat mengetahui daya tarik mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Kesejahteraan Keluarga konsentrasi Tata Busana terhadap produk tas yang dihasilkan. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen terapan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa Tata Busana tahun 2020 dan 2021 yang telah lulus Mata Kuliah Kerajinan dengan jumlah 62 orang. Hasil eksperimen berbahan limbah denim yang diciptakan berupa pembuatan produk tas Rucksack dan Tote bag dengan pengaplikasian teknik destruktif. Produk tas Rucksack model pertama menggunakan jenis bahan Selvedge denim dengan motif Orchid Flower, model tas Tote bag kedua dan ketiga menggunakan jenis bahan katun denim dengan motif ornamen Aceh dan motif tumbuhan Impatiens Haukeri. Ketiga model tas yang dihasilkan pengerjaannya menggunakan teknik destruktif. Teknik destruktif dikerjakan melalui proses perobekan dan dilakukan pencabutan benang sehingga tercipta teskstur tertentu berupa serat-serat benang yang terurai tanpa akhir penyelesaian. Teknik destruktif yang digunakan berupa pengerasan material denim, teknik pola gradasi dan teknik unfinished/ripped. Tanggapan responden menunjukkan bahwa produk tas Tote bag III lebih diminati oleh konsumen diikuti dengan produk tas Rucksack model I dan tas Tote bag model II. Keunggulan dari produk tas Tote bag III terdapat pada desain, motif, penempatan teknik pola gradasi, teknik unfinished/ripped dan ketertarikan terhadap produk tas Tote bag III menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 62,9% menyatakan sangat menyukai diikuti tas Rucksack I sebanyak 58,1% dan tas Tote bag II sebanyak 35,5% dari tanggapan responden.

Denim is one of the fabrics that has very strong and sturdy characteristics, its decomposition in the environment takes years. The use of denim waste material with the application of destructive techniques in making fashion products is one alternative way that can be developed to reduce the problems of denim waste material. The purpose of the research is to design and make bag products using denim waste material with the application of destructive techniques to be able to find out the attractiveness of students of the Family Welfare Education Study Program concentrated in Cosmetology towards the resulting bag products. The research used an applied experimental method with a quantitative approach. The sample in this study were Fashion Management students in 2020 and 2021 who had passed the Craft Course with a total of 62 people. The results of experiments made from denim waste were created in the form of making Rucksack and Tote bag products by applying destructive techniques. The first model of Rucksack bag used Selvedge denim with Orchid Flower motif, the second and third models of Tote bag used cotton denim with Aceh ornament motif and Impatiens Haukeri plant motif. The three bag models produced using the destructive technique. The destructive technique is done through the process of tearing and removing the yarn so as to create a certain texture in the form of unraveled yarn fibers without final completion. The destructive techniques used are denim material hardening, gradation pattern technique and unfinished/ripped technique. The respondents' show that the Tote bag III product is more attractive to consumers followed by the Rucksack bag model I and Tote bag model II. The advantages of the Tote bag III product are in the design, motif, placement of gradation pattern techniques, unfinished/ripped techniques and the interest in the Tote bag III product shows that 62.9% stated that they really liked it followed by the Rucksack bag I as much as 58.1% and the Tote bag II bag as much as 35.5% of the respondents' responses.
