Kemampuan numerasi siswa Indonesia masih tergolong sangat rendah. Hal ini berdasarkan hasil survei PISA yang menunjukkan bahwa Indonesia menduduki peringkat 73 dari 79 negara. OECD berpendapat bahwa rendahnya kemampuan numerasi karena pendekatan pembelajaran yang kurang efektif dalam mengembangkan kemampuan numerasi siswa dapat menjadi faktor penyebab. Jika pendekatan pembelajaran yang digunakan tidak memungkinkan siswa untuk memahami konsep dan keterampilan matematika dengan baik, maka kemampuan numerasi siswa dapat terhambat. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu alternatif yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa yaitu melalui penerapan RME dengan konteks kemaritiman. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan numerasi siswa melalui penerapan RME dengan konteks kemaritiman di kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain yang digunakan yaitu pre-experimental dengan jenis one group pretest-posttest. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh dan sampel seluruh siswa kelas VII-3 yang terdiri dari 26 siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa 4 butir soal setara AKM. Uji hipotesis dilakukan dengan uji Wilcoxon’s Signed Rank Test. Berdasarkan analisi data diperoleh bahwa pendekatan RME dengan konteks kemaritiman dapat meningkatkan kemampuan numerasi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh, peningkatannya dalam kategori sedang. Hal ini terlihat pada hasil uji hipotesis dengan taraf signifikansi \alpha=0,05 dan dk=26 diperoleh Whitung < Wtabel, yaitu 0 < 98 oleh karena itu tolak H0 dan terima H_1.

Indonesian students' numeracy skills are still very low. This is based on the results of the PISA survey which showed that Indonesia was ranked 73 out of 79 countries. The OECD argues that low numeracy skills due to ineffective learning approaches in developing students' numeracy skills can be a contributing factor. If the learning approach used does not allow students to understand mathematical concepts and skills well, then students' numeracy skills can be hampered. Therefore, an alternative is needed that can improve students' numeracy skills, namely through the application of RME with a maritime context. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of students' numeracy skills through the application of RME with maritime context in class VII SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh. This research is a quantitative research with the design used is pre-experimental with the type of one group pretest-posttest. The population of this study were all seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh and the sample was all students of class VII-3 consisting of 26 students. The research instrument was in the form of 4 items of AKM equivalent questions. Hypothesis testing was done with Wilcoxon's Signed Rank Test. Based on data analysis, it was found that the RME approach with maritime context can improve the numeracy skills of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh, the increase is in the medium category. This can be seen in the results of hypothesis testing with a significance level of \alpha=0.05 and dk = 26 obtained Whitung < Wtabel, namely 0 < 98 therefore reject H0 and accept H_1.
