Plastik telah menjadi komponen penting dalam kehidupan manusia karena sifatnya yang plastisitas, ringan, murah dan tidak mudah rusak. Produksi plastik di Indonesia meningkat 20 kali lipat, dan diprediksikan akan memburuk sampai tahun 2050. Hanya 14% dari limbah plastik yang berhasil didaur ulang, sementara sisanya dibakar, ditimbun dan dibuang ke lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk, jenis serta penghilangan mikroplastik yang terdapat di Danau Laut Tawar Takengon menggunakan teknologi pengolahan kombinasi filtrasi dan adsorpsi yaitu tangki filter-adsoben zeolit, silika dan karbon aktiv. Sampling dilakukan di Danau Laut Tawar yang terdapat lima titik, Pantai Menye, Pedemun, Penalum, One-one dan Toweren. Sampel yang dianalisis adalah air dan sedimen danau. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilaksanakan didapatkan lima jenis mikroplastik pada air dan sedimen di Danau Laut Tawar Takengon yang berbentuk fiber, fragment, film, foam dan pellet. Kelimpahan mikroplastik yang paling banyak ditemukan pada air berturut-turut adalah One-One sebanyak 25,2 mg/L, Pantai Menye sebanyak 24 mg/L, Pedemun sebanyak 22 mg/L, Penalum sebanyak 13,2 mg/L dan Toweren sebanyak 10,2 mg/L. Mikroplastik yang ditemukan pada sedimen danau berturut-turut adalah Pantai Menye sebanyak 17,3 mg/L, Toweren 15,8 mg/L, One-one sebanyak 15,75 mg/L, Pedemun sebanyak 15,5 mg/L dan Penalum sebanyak 6,3 mg/L. Jenis mikroplastik yang terdapat pada air dan danau sedimen di Danau Laut Tawar yaitu Polistirena, Polietilena, Nilon dan Polipropilena. Setelah didapatkan data kelimpahan, langkah selanjutnya merejeksi mikroplastik, Nilai Rejeksi mikroplastik dari sampel air danau setelah melalui proses filtrasi-adsorpsi menggunakan Zeolit, Silika dan Karbon Aktiv berturut-turut adalah 86.88%, 86.54% dan 79.76%.
Plastics has become an important component of human life due to their plasticity, light weight, cheapness and non-destructibility. Plastic production in Indonesia has increased 20-fold, and is predicted to worsen by 2050. Only 14% of plastic waste is successfully recycled, while the rest is incinerated, landfilled and dumped into the environment. This study aims to identify the shape, type and removal of microplastics found in Lake Laut Tawar Takengon using a combination of filtration and adsorption treatment technology, namely zeolite, silica and activated carbon filter-adsorbent tanks. Sampling was carried out at Lake Laut Tawar which has five points, Menye Beach, Pedemun, Penalum, One-one and Toweren. The samples analysed were water and lake sediments. Based on the research that has been carried out, five types of microplastics were obtained in water and sediments in Takengon Fresh Sea Lake in the form of fibres, fragments, films, foam and pellets. The most abundant microplastics found in water are One-One as much as 25.2 mg/L, Menye Beach as much as 24 mg/L, Pedemun as much as 22 mg/L, Penalum as much as 13.2 mg/L and Toweren as much as 10.2 mg/L. Microplastics found in lake sediments were Menye Beach at 17.3 mg/L, Toweren at 15.8 mg/L, One-one at 15.75 mg/L, Pedemun at 15.5 mg/L and Penalum at 6.3 mg/L. The types of microplastics found in water and lake sediments in Lake Laut Tawar are Polystyrene, Polyethylene, Nylon and Polypropylene. After obtaining abundance data, the next step is to reject microplastics, the Rejection value of microplastics from lake water samples after going through the filtration-adsorption process using Zeolite, Silica and Activated Carbon respectively is 86.88%, 86.54% and 79.76%.
