Kemampuan representasi sangat penting dalam mempelajari matematika sehingga perlu dimiliki oleh setiap siswa. Salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa adalah Teaching at the Right Level. Teaching at the right level dapat mendukung kemampuan representasi dengan menyesuaikan materi sesuai pemahaman siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa melalui pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level di Kelas VIII SMPN 7 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini merupakan True-experimental design dengan desain penelitian pretest-posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Banda Aceh yang terdiri dari 7 kelas dan sampel dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling sehingga didapat dua kelas yaitu eksperimen dan kontrol. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes kemampuan representasi matematis. Setelah dilakukan analisis,data pre-test dan post-test pada kedua kelas tersebut berdistribusi normal dan homogen sehingga pengolahan data dilakukan dengan uji-t. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan data diperoleh t_hitung sebesar 1,892 dan t_tabel sebesar 1,671 pada taraf signifikan α=0,05 , derajat kebebasan dk=58 sehingga t_hitung>t_tabel yaitu 1,892>1,671 maka tolak H_0. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan representasi matematis siswa melalui pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level .

Representation ability is very important in learning mathematics so it needs to be owned by every student. One of the learning approaches that can be applied to improve students' mathematical representation skills is Teaching at the Right Level. Teaching at the right level can support representation skills by adjusting the material according to students' understanding. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical representation skills through the Teaching at the Right Level approach in Class VIII of SMPN 7 Banda Aceh. This research is a true-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Banda Aceh consisting of 7 classes and the sample was selected using simple random sampling technique so that two classes were obtained, namely experimental and control. After analysis, the pre-test and post-test data in both classes were normally distributed and homogeneous so that data processing was carried out by t-test. Based on the results of data processing obtained t_hitung of 1.892 and t_tabel of 1.671 at a significant level α = 0.05, degrees of freedom dk = 58 so that t_hitung>t_tabel yaitu 1,892>1,671 then reject H_0. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant increase between students' mathematical representation skills through the Teaching at the right level.
