The purpose of this study is to know the strategies which are used by English
teachers and the way of the English teachers implement the particular strategies in
teaching writing at MAS Insan Qurani Aceh Besar. The subjects of this study are
two English teachers at MAS Insan Qurani who teach the class X-1 and XI-1.
Descriptive qualitative method is used to describe the strategies applied by
English teachers at MAS Insan Qurani in teaching writing. The data of this study
were obtained by using observation check list, interview and questionnaire. They
were analyzed by using a descriptive explanation. The results show that the
teachers at MAS Insan Qurani Aceh Besar used various strategies in teaching
writing, such as using cooperative learning, interactive approach, and using media
(games, picture and so on). The teachers modify the strategies in teaching
depending on the material. The implementation of the strategy was adapted by the
teacher with the materials, the indicator, the purpose of learning based on the
syllabus and curriculum. They chose the most appropriate strategies which can
help the students to write the paragraph well. The students’ responses to the
strategies which used by the teachers were positive. Most of the students enjoyed
the class and the strategies used by the teachers.
