The objective of this study is to investigate the students’ most difficult skillsand the strategies used by English students in facing TOEFL Reading Comprehension test. TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language that measures the level of English proficiency. TOEFL has been used as a requirement for pursuing scholarship to study abroad and getting appropriate job. The design of this study was a descriptive qualitative study. The data was obtained from the set of TOEFL Reading Comprehension Section test and questionnaire consisting of 14 statements related to strategies used by students during the test. A number of 30 English students of English Department at Syiah Kuala University batch 2011 were the samples for the study. The result of this study shows five most difficult skills for students and their strategies used to complete the Reading TOEFL Comprehension test. Regarding to the result, the researcher suggests English students to be aware of their weakness in each skill being difficult for them to gain a better score in TOEFL, especially in reading section. Moreover, the lecturers should pay more attention to the students’ difficulties and to ensure that the students are required to use appropriate strategies to figure out the correct answer in each type of question. It is also recommended for other researchers to conduct further research regarding to the students’ difficulties in TOEFL Reading Comprehension section.
