Title : Teacher’s Strategy in Teaching English Subject in
Accelerated Class at SMAN 3 Banda Aceh

This study was carried out to analyze the teacher’s strategy in teaching English
subject in the Accelerated Class at SMAN 3 Banda Aceh . Descriptive qualitative
approach was applied. The English teacher in the Accelerated Class at SMAN 3
Banda Aceh was the subjects of this study. While the object of this study was the
teacher’s strategy in teaching English in the Accelerated Class at SMAN 3 Banda
Aceh. The data were collected by using observation sheet and interview guide as
research instruments. The result of obseravation sheet showed that the teacher used
aperception at the beginning of the class to arouse students’ motivation in the
teaching learning process. Furthermore, the teacher introduce the topics or materials
in real contextto encourage the students to be more interested and focused in learning
the materials. In addition, the findings of interview results pointed that the teacher
used vocabulary and language development strategy to introduce new vocabulary to
the students, guided interaction strategy in managing students’ activities in the
classroom, metacognitionand authentic assessmentstrategies in testing and
evaluating students' understanding, explicitinstruction strategy in providing direction
and instruction to students, meaning-based context and universal themes strategy in
order to create meaningful learning for students, and modelling, graphic organizers,
and visuals strategy in order to facilitate students understanding the material.
