The title of this research is The Implementation of Student Team Achievement Division {STAD) in Teaching Reading for Senior High School Students. The objective of this study is to explore some theories, statements, research findings, and any resource related to STAD technique and teaching reading. Then it is hoped that the findings will give great contribution to the implementation of STAD in teaching reading. The study is focused on a particular technique under Cooperative Learning, called Student Team Achievement Division. This technique allows students to work together and master the information explained by teacher and they, who have more group points, are given some rewards at the end. Based on the research findings and experts' statement, the study found that by using this technique in teaching reading, the teacher can make the students more motivated in learning and give the same chance to all student to be succeed in their learning because the students work in heterogeneous group which consists of high and low level students. Thus, STAD is effective to improve students' ability in reading skill. The readings obtained from various resources were processed and described in descriptive way. In the future, this study is expected to be useful for the writer and other English teachers to improve their teaching skill.
